As part of a comprehensive list of services offered out of the Women and Gender Advocacy center, we offer a couple of different group options.

Support Group

For survivors of sexual assault, stalking, adult survivors of child sexual abuse, and/or relationship violence, this is run as a drop in group. Members attend when they are feeling like they need it most with no pressure for weekly attendance. Anyone identifying as a female CSU student and a survivor is welcome to attend after a brief initial consultation with one of our office advocates. This group meets Friday’s from 3:30-4:45.

We currently do not offer a support group for people who identify as male. If you would be interested in one of these options, please contact the office and ask to speak with an advocate. We will add a group, or recommend locals groups as interest allows.

The Body and Healing from Trauma: A practice in alignment: (Beginning September 2017)

We know that trauma can manifest physically in our bodies. We, also, know that emotional healing can happen through physical movement. This 9-week workshop program provides space and skills for survivors of interpersonal violence explore the ways in which our bodies are impacted by trauma. Participants will have the opportunity to become acquainted with their bodies by practicing feeling grounded and connected to the present moment, and to explore the benefits of mindfulness and yoga as they flow breath to movement in trauma-informed practice and discussion. Each week will have an intentional focus on restorative postures as we explore the chakra system of yogic philosophy. Facilitators will work with group members to find postures and modifications that will allow members to find a practice that feels safe and achievable for them. Classes are coupled with guided activities including de-briefing exercises, journaling, and group discussions. Participants of any gender and ability level are encouraged to join. This program will be held from 2:30-4PM on Thursdays. Interested individuals can contact for more information. This is a free program.
